Your jackets checklist
Allow for your intended base layers when comparing chest and shoulder measurements.
Check zipper operation, snaps, lining, pockets and seam alignment.
For insulated jackets, inspect the distribution of filling, but do not infer warmth or fill composition from photos.
Get packed dimensions before comparing shipping options. A puffer can be light but bulky.
Is a heavier jacket always warmer?
No. Warmth depends on insulation, construction and intended conditions. A listing or photo is not enough to verify technical performance.
How much room do I need for layers?
Compare the jacket with an outer layer that already fits over your intended clothing. Check chest, shoulders, sleeves and closures using the seller’s diagram. A universal instruction to size up cannot account for different cuts or base layers.
Why can a light puffer cost more to ship?
A puffer may occupy a large packed volume despite a low actual weight. A route that uses volumetric weight may bill for that volume. Ask for packed length, width and height, the route’s calculation and a complete quote.
Do QC photos prove a jacket is waterproof?
No. Photos can show visible seams, closures and labels, but they do not establish water resistance, breathability or warmth. Those claims need suitable product evidence beyond a warehouse image.
Keep the exact listing and measurements in the OSSBuy comparison tool. Use the warehouse QC checklist to record missing evidence and the shipping cost guide before comparing delivered totals.
A listing is a candidate, not a promise. Recheck the exact variant, current price and available evidence before ordering.
